Business, Employment and Economics Analysts
At the end of the first decade of the new millennium, in 2010, the well known and respected Kiplinger Magazine provided analysts that predicted 13 Top Careers. These top careers are those within the American workforce, which began recovering from the Recession of 2008 - 2010, that would likely predominate the job and employment market during the decades 2010 - 2020, 2012 - 2022, and certainly beyond. as the American and global populations increase in average age. For instance, Travel Nursing and other Travel Health Professions are offering increasingly high wages and extra benefits that include mortgage payment and should continue to do so to mid-century.
Advisability is on the side of examining at least two or three additional analytical journals for second opinions and to weed out author biases. After all, the State and Federal governments combine to list a Top 50 Employers in each of the 50 United States on the website ace.net; but on a major competitor's site, companiespay to be on the list; it is simply advertising that some readers take for reporting. Misinformation and mythology run rampant in these channels.
Here, let's look at my own findings of the Top 10 Hot Careers in America. This is based on data culled from among American Federal, State, and Local employment projections that are of public record. We can compare the official government-predicted employment and job projections with actual employment trends and job listings in our national job market with the original 13 careers first mentioned above. Let us see if any match.
From my workforce development projects during the mid-1990s to date, I've found that Physical Therapist (or PT) as a career has been the Number One producer of job listings coast-to-coast. long-term. It is still such in 2010 and 2011, but other Healthcare professions are increasing in numbers as well. The largest proportion of these PT jobs since at least 2008 are opening up throughout the State of Texas.
Related to new jobs, the US Federal Department of Labor chose Physical Therapist as a top pick for future job growth in the late 2000s, matching employment and job listing trends. However, this career did not appear in the Top 10 of the 13 predicted in the Kiplinger article mentioned at the top of this piece. Physical Therapy , in fact, appeared somewhere below that group of 13, but still within the Top 20 Careers presented in the related video below. Perhaps, Physical Therapist will give way to the rising Occupational Therapist.
In February 2010 and in March through April 2011, PT was still the most frequently listed (highest demand) job listing across all Internet sources as a universe. This fact was shown by the aggregates presented on SimplyHired.com and Indeed.com. These are leaders in aggregating Internet-posted jobs from all sources (see links below).
